Also Thursday, Francisco Lindor of the Mets rises to first place among National League batters after earning NL Player of the Day honors.

Eovaldi struck out eight over 5 1/3 scoreless innings, allowing two hits and two walks, in the 6-0 win over the Nationals.

Eovaldi earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, giving him 5.0 for the season, rising to 10th among all players, fifth among American League pitchers.

Eovaldi exited the game with groin tightness after 92 pitches.

National League Player of the Day

Francisco Lindor of the Mets hit two doubles—including the walk-off, game-winning hit—and went 2-for-3, scoring once and driving in four runs, in the 7-6, 11-inning win over the Cubs.

Lindor earns 1.7 Box-Toppers points for being NL Player of the Day, giving him 3.2 for the season, 32nd among all players, rising to first place among NL batters, and passing previous leader, Marcell Ozuna of the Braves (3.0 points), who falls to second place.

American League Batter of the Day

Jon Singleton of the Astros homered, hit a sacrifice fly and went 2-for-3, scoring twice and driving in three runs, in the 8-2 win over the Guardians.
