Athletics' Jesse Chavez, Cardinals' Adam Wainwright top players for Thursday, June 13

Athletics pitcher Jesse Chavez is Thursday's Player of the Day. Chavez pitched 5 2/3 scoreless innings of closing, extra-innings relief in the 3-2, 18-inning win over the Yankees. Chavez gave up only one hit and struck out seven after appearing in the 13th inning.

Cardinals pitcher Adam Wainwright is National League Player of the Day. Wainwright pitched seven shutout innings in the 2-1 win over the Mets. 

Ryan Zimmerman of the Nationals is NL Batter of the Day. Zimmerman homered and drove in three runs in the 5-4 win over the Rockies. 

Chavez receives 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day. Wainwright receives 1.7 for NL Player of the Day. Zimmerman  receives 1.5 for being NL Batter of the Day. No American League batter was Player of the Game Thursday, so no AL batter receives bonus points.
