Pirates pitcher Gerrit Cole is in second place overall and leads all National League players. Cole also has 6.0 Box-Toppers points but Hernandez wins the tie-breaker because he had more 2014 Box-Toppers points than Cole—20.8 vs. 5.7.

Last week’s leader among NL players, Reds pitcher Anthony DeSclafani, falls to fourth place among NL pitchers. He has 3.7 Box-Toppers points.

The top NL batter for the third straight week is Giancarlo Stanton of the Marlins with 4.5 Box-Toppers points. He ranks fifth among all players.

The top AL batter is Miguel Cabrera of the Tigers with 3.7 Box-Toppers points. He ranks eighth among all players.

Last week’s leading AL batter, Josh Donaldson of the Blue Jays, falls to third among AL batters with 2.5 Box-Toppers points.

So far this season, 246 different players have earned Box-Toppers Player of the Game honors. Thirty-four players have more than 2.0 Box-Toppers points.

About Box-Toppers—Box-Toppers tracks who most helps their team win the most games. Using standard box score statistics, Box-Toppers uses a simple formula to determine a Player of the Game for each Major League Baseball game played. That player is the person who contributed most to his team’s win. In regular season games, players earn 1.0 Box-Toppers point for being named Player of the Game and can earn bonus points for being Player of the Day or top player or batter in their league for the day.
