American League pitching leader—Felix Hernandez of the Mariners, 14.4 Box-Toppers points. (He ranks second among all players.)

American League batting leader—Mike Trout of the Angels, 9.0 Box-Toppers points. (He ranks 22nd among all players.)

National League batting leader—Todd Frazier of the Reds, 7.2 Box-Toppers points. (He ranks 35th among all players.)

Though the leaders stay the same, there were some interesting developments among the four category top 10 lists:

  • Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw rose from 10th to third among NL pitchers, picking up 4.0 Box-Toppers points in the past week, and now has 13.0.
  • Pitcher Scott Kazmir, now ranked eighth among AL pitchers with 9.7 Box-Toppers points, was traded Thursday from the Athletics to the Astros.
  • Indians pitcher Carlos Carrasco rose into the top 10 AL pitchers list at ninth place with 9.0 Box-Toppers points.
  • Three batters rose into the AL batters top 10 list, all with 6.0 Box-Toppers points—Albert Pujols of the Angels (fifth place), Jose Altuve of the Astros (sixth place) and Mark Teixeira of the Yankees (eighth place).
  • Cardinals pitcher Lance Lynn rose into the top 10 NL pitchers list at ninth place with 10.4 Box-Toppers points.
  • Randal Grichuk of the Cardinals rose into the top 10 NL batters list at third place with 7.0 Box-Toppers points. Grichuk picked up 3.0 Box-Toppers points since the last report July 12.

So far this season, 578 different players have earned Box-Toppers Player of the Game honors. There are 258 players who have more than 2.0 Box-Toppers points.

About Box-Toppers—Box-Toppers tracks who most helps their team win the most games. Using standard box score statistics, Box-Toppers uses a simple formula to determine a Player of the Game for each Major League Baseball game played. That player is the person who contributed most to his team’s win. In regular season games, players earn 1.0 Box-Toppers point for being named Player of the Game and can earn bonus points for being Player of the Day or top player or batter in their league for the day.
