Meanwhile, there is one new category leader—Yoenis Cespedes of the Mets takes over the Box-Toppers points lead among National League batters.

Overall leader—deGrom has 19.4 Box-Toppers points, the same total as last week and also leads among NL pitchers.

American League pitching leader—David Price maintained his lead with 18.1 Box-Toppers points, picking up 2.0 points since last week. He ranks second among all players.

American League batting leader—Mike Trout of the Angels maintained his lead with 10.0 Box-Toppers points and ranks 27th among all players.

National League batting leader—Yoenis Cespedes of the Mets takes over the lead from Randal Grichuk of the Cardinals. Cespedes has 9.9 Box-Toppers points and ranks 29th among all players. Cespedes played more than half the season in the AL with the Tigers and has earned 3.2 points since being traded to the Mets. Grichuk falls to third place among NL batters with 9.5 Box-Toppers points.

As of Aug. 27, 667 different players had earned Box-Toppers Player of the Game honors this season. There are 319 players with more than 2.0 Box-Toppers points.

About Box-Toppers—Box-Toppers tracks who most helps their team win the most games. Using standard box score statistics, Box-Toppers uses a simple formula to determine a Player of the Game for each Major League Baseball game played. That player is the person who contributed most to his team’s win. In regular season games, players earn 1.0 Box-Toppers point for being named Player of the Game and can earn bonus points for being Player of the Day or top player or batter in their league for the day.
