What are those numbers after players' names?

Meanwhile, there are new leaders in three of the other four major ranking categories: Jose Quintana of the White Sox now leads American League pitchers, Jose Altuve of the Astros now leads AL batters and Yoenis Cespedes of the Mets now leads National League batters.

Arrieta is the overall leader in points with 6.0, picking up 1.0 point in the past week. While he led last week’s Friday player rankings report, he lost the lead Sunday when Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw passed him with 6.0 Box-Toppers points. Arrieta reclaimed the lead Tuesday when he earned Player of the Game honors. While Arrieta and Kershaw both have 6.0 Box-Toppers points on the season, Arrieta beats him in a tiebreaker because he had more Box-Toppers points in 2015—29.1 vs. 25.7.

American League batting leader—Altuve of the Astros has 5.0 Box-Toppers points, most of any AL player and third among all players. He passed last week’s leader, Manny Machado of the Orioles, who has 4.2 points and fell to third among AL batters this week.

American League pitching leader—Quintana of the White Sox has 4.7 Box-Toppers points and ranks sixth among all players. He passed last week’s leader, Edinson Volquez of the Royals, who has 4.4 points and fell to second among AL pitchers this week.

National League batting leader—Cespedes of the Mets has 4.5 Box-Toppers points and ranks eighth among all players. He passed last week’s leader, Eugenio Suarez of the reds, who has 4.5 points and fell to second among NL batters.

So far this season, 283 different players have earned Box-Toppers Player of the Game honors. There are 67 players who have more than 2.0 Box-Toppers points.

About Box-Toppers—Box-Toppers tracks who most helps their team win the most games. Using standard box score statistics, Box-Toppers uses a simple formula to determine a Player of the Game for each Major League Baseball game played. That player is the person who contributed most to his team’s win. In regular season games, players earn 1.0 Box-Toppers point for being named Player of the Game and can earn bonus points for being Player of the Day or top player or batter in their league for the day.
