However, there is a new leader among National League batters this week as Kris Bryant of the Cubs (9.0 Box-Toppers points) has passed Matt Carpenter of the St. Louis Cardinals (8.5). Bryant ranks 32nd among all players.
Kershaw has 20.0 Box-Toppers points to lead all players despite being on the disabled list for the past seven weeks. Second-place player, Nationals pitcher Max Scherzer (18.7 points), has had two chances to pass him in his past two starts but failed both times to earn Player of the Game honors.
The top 10 players in Box-Toppers rankings only earned 2.0 combined Box-Toppers points since last week: Indians pitcher Corey Kluber (17.2 points, ranked third) earned 1.0 point on Tuesday and Cubs pitcher Jon Lester (14.4 points, ranked sixth) earned 1.0 point on Wednesday.

So far this season, 646 different players have earned Box-Toppers Player of the Game honors. There are 317 players who have more than 2.0 Box-Toppers points. There are 106 players who have made their Box-Toppers debut so far this season, the first time in their career they earned Player of the Game honors.
About Box-Toppers—Box-Toppers tracks who most helps their team win the most games. Using standard box score statistics, Box-Toppers uses a simple formula to determine a Player of the Game for each Major League Baseball game played. That player is the person who contributed most to his team’s win. In regular season games, players earn 1.0 Box-Toppers point for being named Player of the Game and can earn bonus points for being Player of the Day or top player or batter in their league for the day.
