Guardians pitcher Triston McKenzie is Sunday’s Box-Toppers Player of the Day.

McKenzie struck out seven over seven scoreless innings, allowing one hit and one walk, in the 2-0 win over the Yankees.

McKenzie earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, giving him 6.0 for the season, 38th among all players and 18th among American League pitchers.

National League Player of the Day—Brewers pitcher Brandon Woodruff struck out eight over six scoreless innings, allowing six hits and no walks, in the 2-0 win over the Pirates.

Woodruff earns 1.7 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, giving him 8.4 for the season, 16th among all players and eighth among NL pitchers.

National League Batter of the Day—C.J. Cron of the Rockies hit a pair of three-run home runs, going 2-for-4, scoring twice and driving in eight runs, in the 6-5 win over the Diamondbacks.

Cron earns 1.5 Box-Toppers points for being NL Batter of the Day, giving him 7.0 for the season, second among NL batters, behind Pete Alonso of the Mets (9.2).

American League Batter of the Day—Edward Olivares of the Royals homered and went 2-for-4, scoring twice  and driving in two runs, in the 7-4 win over the Tigers.

This was Olivares’ Box-Toppers debut, the first time in his career he earned Player of the Game honors. Olivares made his Major League debut July 25, 2020, and was playing in his 77th career game.
