Angels pitcher Touki Toussaint is Wednesday’s Box-Toppers Player of the Day.

Toussaint struck out six over five scoreless innings, allowing two hits and two walks, in the 5-4, 12-inning win over the Athletics. Toussaint did not earn the win, picking up a no-decision, because the game was in a scoreless tie when he exited.

Toussaint earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, his first points of the season, and ranks 322nd among all players and 96th among American League pitchers.

National League Player of the Day—Francisco Lindor of the Mets went 2-for-3, scoring three times and driving in two runs, in the 10-2 win over the Reds.

Lindor earns 1.7 Box-Toppers points for being NL Player of the Day, giving him 5.2 for the season, 98th among all players and 15th among NL batters.

Francisco Lindor of the Mets is Wednesday’s Box-Toppers NL Player of the Day.

American League Batter of the Day—Leody Taveras of the Rangers tripled, doubled and went 2-for-4, scoring once and driving in five runs, in the 8-4, 10-inning win over the Astros.

This was Taveras’s Box-Toppers debut, the first time in his career he earned Player of the Game honors. Taveras made his Major League debut July 24, 2020, and was playing in his 132nd career game.

(Correction, posted Thursday, October 12, 2023: This was not Taveras’s Box-Toppers debut. That happened July 11, 2022. Box-Toppers accidentally added him to our player database twice. Those records are being consolidated. That means Taveras had 2.5 Box-Toppers points at this point in 2022, his final total for the season.)

Leody Taveras of the Rangers is Wednesday’s Box-Toppers AL Batter of the Day.

National League Batter of the Day—There is no separate NL Batter of the Day for Wednesday because the overall NL Player of the Day is batter Francisco Lindor.

Albert Pujols of the Cardinals is Box-Toppers Player of the Game in Wednesday’s win over the Rockies.

About Box-Toppers—Box-Toppers tracks who most helps their team win the most games. Using standard box score statistics, Box-Toppers uses a simple formula to determine a Player of the Game for each Major League Baseball game played. That player is the person who contributed most to his team’s win. In regular season games, players earn 1.0 Box-Toppers point for being named Player of the Game and can earn bonus points for being Player of the Day or top player or batter in their league for the day.
