Jose Altuve tops players in Saturday's ALCS Game 6 as Astros win series over Yankees

Jose Altuve of the Astros is Box-Toppers Player of the Game in Saturday’s American League Championship Series Game 6 win over the Yankees.

Altuve hit a walk-off, two-run homer to give the Astros a 6-4 victory, also winning the best-of-seven game series, 4-2. Altuve also doubled and went 2-for-4, scoring three times and driving in two runs.

Altuve earned 2.5 Box-Toppers points in the regular season, 382nd among all players, 93rd among AL batters and 15th among AL second basemen. It was his first Player of the Game honor of the 2019 postseason.

Altuve had a Box-Toppers game score of +3.0, best among Astros players Saturday. Prior to Altuve’s walk-off home run, first baseman Yuli Gurriel had the highest game score (+2.0) among Astros batters (HR 2-4 R 3BI). Yankees starter/opener Chad Green had a Box-Toppers game score of -7.0 (1IP 2H 3R BB K ND). Also notable, Yankees third baseman Gio Urshela had a Box-Toppers game score of +3.0 (HR 3-3 2R BI).

The Astros now advance to the World Series to face the National League champion Washington Nationals beginning Tuesday in Houston. 

The Astros held a large advantage over the Yankees going into the ALCS, as outlined in Box-Toppers ALCS preview. Astros players accumulated by far the most Box-Toppers points of any team (158.1). The Yankees had 123.4 points, ranked fifth overall. The Astros top three pitchers are among Box-Toppers’ top-10 ranked players in 2019. Meanwhile, the Yankees top player, James Paxton (14.1 Box-Toppers points), ranks 19th overall.
