Giants pitcher Anthony DeSclafani is Box-Toppers Player of the Day in Monday’s spring training games.

DeSclafani struck out eight over 4 2/3 scoreless innings, allowing three hits and one walk, in the 5-3 win over the Athletics.

DeSclafani would have earned 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day if if this were a regular season game. Because it’s a preseason exhibition game, no Box-Toppers points are awarded.

DeSclafani earned 12.7 Box-Toppers points in 2021, 15th among National League pitchers.

Tigers pitcher Tarik Skubal is Box-Toppers AL Player of the Day in Monday’s spring training games.

Skubal would have earned 1.7 Box-Toppers points for being AL Player of the Day in a regular season day. Skubal earned 8.7 Box-Toppers points in 2021, 27th among AL pitchers.

This was Skubal’s second Box-Toppers Player of the Game honor of the spring. He was also AL Player of the Day March 30.

Bryan Reynolds of the Pirates is Box-Toppers NL Batter of the Day in Monday’s spring training games.

National League Batter of the Day—Bryan Reynolds of the Pirates hit a three-run homer and doubled in the 9-3 win over the Orioles. Reynolds went 2-for-3, scoring twice and driving in four runs.

Reynolds would have earned 1.5 Box-Toppers points for being NL Batter of the Day in a regular season day. Reynolds earned 8.0 Box-Toppers points in 2021, eighth among NL batters.

Jose Rojas of the Angels is Box-Toppers AL Batter of the Day in Monday’s spring training games.

American League Batter of the Day—Jose Rojas of the Angels homered and went 2-for-2, scoring once and driving in three runs, in the 10-4 win over the Dodgers.

Rojas would have earned 1.5 Box-Toppers points for being AL Batter of the Day in a regular season day. Rojas has yet to earn Box-Toppers Player of the Game honors in a regular season game and so has 0.0 career Box-Toppers points.

Notable—In addition to Skubal, two other players on Monday earned Box-Toppers Player of the Game honors for the second time this spring:

Twins pitcher Bailey Ober is Box-Toppers Player of the Game in Monday’s spring training win over the Red Sox.

Twins pitcher Bailey Ober (4IP H 0R BB 3K W in the 2-0 win over the Red Sox) was also Player of the Game March 24.
Aristides Aquino of the Reds (HR 1-1 R 2BI in the 10-6 win over the Royals) was also Player of the Game Sunday, giving him top player honors for the second straight day.

There were 15 spring training games played Monday. One ended in a tie, so no Player of the Game honors were awarded in that game.
