Sale struck out 12 over 7 2/3 innings in the 3-0 win over the Angels. He earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for Player of the Day, giving him 8.7 for the season, putting him atop the player standings for 2013 (see the updated standings on the home page).
Paul Goldschmidt of the Diamondbacks is National League Player of the Day. Goldschmidt hit a pair of two-run homers and went 4-for-5 in the 9-2 win over the Marlins.
Kelly Johnson of the Rays is American League Batter of the Day. Johnson homered and went 3-for-5 in the 12-10 win over the Orioles.
