What are those numbers after players' names?

Kershaw is also among the new leaders in three of the four main Box-Toppers categories—Kershaw is the new leader among National League pitchers, Chris Sale of the White Sox is the new leader among American League pitchers and Manny Machado of the Orioles is the new leader among AL batters.

Kershaw leads all players with 9.0 Box-Toppers points, picking up 3.0 points in the past week. Previous leader Arrieta picked up no points in the past week and has 6.0 points, falling to second among NL pitchers and third among all players.

American League batting leader—Machado has 6.7 Box-Toppers points, earning 2.5 in the past week, and passes last week’s leader, Jose Altuve of the Astros, who has 5.0 points and falls to third among AL batters. Machado ranks second in Box-Toppers points among all players.

American League pitching leader—Sale has 5.7 Box-Toppers points, earning 1.7 in the past week, moving ahead of last week’s leader, Jose Quintana of the White Sox (5.7). Though both players have the same Box-Toppers point total, Sale wins on a tiebreaker because he had more points in 2015—18.8 vs. 6. Sale ranks fifth in Box-Toppers points among all players.

National League batting leader—Yoenis Cespedes of the Mets maintains his lead among NL batters with 4.5 Box-Toppers points, picking up no additional points in the past week. Cespedes ranks 17th among all players in Box-Toppers points.

So far this season, 324 different players have earned Box-Toppers Player of the Game honors. There are 84 players who have more than 2.0 Box-Toppers points.

About Box-Toppers—Box-Toppers tracks who most helps their team win the most games. Using standard box score statistics, Box-Toppers uses a simple formula to determine a Player of the Game for each Major League Baseball game played. That player is the person who contributed most to his team’s win. In regular season games, players earn 1.0 Box-Toppers point for being named Player of the Game and can earn bonus points for being Player of the Day or top player or batter in their league for the day.
