Indians pitcher Eli Morgan is Tuesday’s Box-Toppers Player of the Day.
Also Tuesday, Rockies pitcher German Marquez maintains fourth place in Box-Toppers season player rankings after earning Player of the Game honors. Plus, Brewers pitcher Corbin Burnes rises to ninth in season player rankings after earning Player of the Game honors.
Player of the Day—Morgan struck out eight over six scoreless innings, allowing three hits and two walks, in the 3-1 win over the Twins.
Morgan earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, giving him 3.7 for the season, 193rd among all players and 62nd among American League pitchers.
National League Player of the Day—Braves pitcher Huascar Ynoa struck out four over 5 1/3 scoreless innings, allowing three hits and one walk, in the 2-0 win over the Marlins. Ynoa did not earn the win, picking up a no-decision, because the game was in a scoreless tie when he exited.
National League Batter of the Day—Riley Adams of the Nationals homered, doubled and went 3-for-4, scoring three times and driving in three runs, in the 12-6 win over the Blue Jays.
This was Adams’s Box-Toppers debut, the first time in his career he earned Player of the Game honors. Adams made his Major League debut June 8 and was playing in his 23rd career game.
American League Batter of the Day—Luke Voit of the Yankees went 1-for-2, scoring once and driving in two runs, in the 5-3, seven-inning win over the Red Sox.
Voit led AL batters in Box-Toppers points in the pandemic-shortened 2020 season with 6.0. This was his first Player of the Game honor of 2021. Voit was the only AL batter to earn Player of the Game honors Tuesday.

Marquez earned Player of the Game as a batter (2B 2-3 R 2BI in the 7-3 win over the Padres), the second time this season he has earned Player of the Game as a batter (he also did it July 31). It was just the fourth time this season a pitcher has won Player of the Game honors for batting. It was also done by Angels pitcher Shohei Ohtani on April 26 and by Padres pitcher Daniel Camarena on July 8.
This is the third time in his career Marquez has won Player of the Game honors for batting. He also did it May 26, 2019.
Marquez had a Box-Toppers game score Tuesday of +2.0 for batting and -1.9 for pitching (6.1IP 5H 3R BB 4K W).
Marquez earns 1.0 Box-Toppers point for being Player of the Game, giving him 16.4 for the season, fourth among all players and third among NL pitchers, behind Zack Wheeler of the Phillies (17.1) and Jacob deGrom of the Mets (16.7).
