White Sox pitcher Michael Kopech is Friday’s Box-Toppers Player of the Day

Also Friday, Giants pitcher Carlos Rodon rises to seventh place in Box-Toppers season player rankings after earning Player of the Game honors.

Player of the Day—Kopech struck out 11 over six scoreless, hitless innings, allowing three walks, in the 2-0 win over the Tigers. Kopech did not earn the win, picking up a no-decision, because the game was in a scoreless tie when he exited.

Despite allowing no hits, Kopech was pulled after six innings with 85 pitches. The Tigers subsequently broke up the no-hitter with three hits off three White Sox relievers.

Kopech earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, giving him 9.0 for the season, 33rd among all players and 16th among American League pitchers.

Cardinals pitcher Jordan Montgomery is Saturday’s Box-Toppers NL Player of the Day.

National League Player of the Day—Cardinals pitcher Jordan Montgomery struck out eight over six scoreless innings, allowing four hits and two walks, in the 3-1 win over the Brewers.

Montgomery earns 1.7 Box-Toppers points for being NL Player of the Day, giving him 5.4 for the season, 39th among NL pitchers.

Jorge Mateo of the Orioles is Saturday’s Box-Toppers AL Batter of the Day.

American League Batter of the Day—Jorge Mateo of the Orioles hit two doubles and went 5-for-5, scoring twice and driving in two runs, in the 10-3 win over the Rays.

Mateo earns 1.5 Box-Toppers points for being AL Batter of the Day, giving him 5.0 for the season, 16th among AL batters.

Trayce Thompson of the Dodgers is Saturday’s Box-Toppers NL Batter of the Day.

National League Batter of the Day—Trayce Thompson of the Dodgers hit a three-run homer, doubled and went 3-for-4, scoring twice and driving in three runs, in the 8-3 win over the Royals.
