Indians' Kluber passes Scherzer for Box-Toppers lead among AL pitchers; Cubs' Arrieta tops players for Tuesday, Sept. 16

Indians pitcher Corey Kluber, Tuesday’s American League Player of the Day, takes the season lead among AL pitchers in Box-Toppers points.

Kluber passes Tigers pitcher Max Scherzer, who had led AL pitchers since July 3. Kluber earns 1.7 Box-Toppers points for being AL Player of the Day, giving him 22.1 for the season. Scherzer has 21.1.

Meanwhile, Cubs pitcher Jake Arrieta is Tuesday’s Player of the Day. Arrieta pitched a complete game, one-hit shutout, striking out 13 and allowing just one walk, in the 7-0 win over the Reds.

Arrieta earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, giving him 13.7 for the season. He ranks 18th among all players and seventh among National League pitchers.
