Anibal Sanchez, 1 hit from no-hitter, is top player for Friday, May 24

Tigers pitcher Anibal Sanchez, who was two outs short of a no-hitter, is Friday's Player of the Day.

Sanchez gave up only one hit—with one out in the ninth—and struck out 12 in the complete game 6-0 shutout of the Twins.

Cardinals pitcher Lance Lynn is National League Player of the Day. Lynn pitched six shutout innings and struck out nine in the 7-0 win over the Dodgers.​

Chris Young of the Athletics is American League Batter of the Day. Young hit a three-run homer and went 3-for-5 in the 6-5 win over the Astros.​

A.J. Pollock of the Diamondbacks is National League Batter of the Day. Pollock went 3-for-4 in the 5-2 win over the Padres.​

Sanchez receives 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being named Player of the Day. Lynn receives 1.7 for NL Player of the Day. Young and Pollock receive 1.5 each for being top Batter of the Day in their league.
