Also Sunday, Yankees pitcher Luis Severino rises to ninth place in Box-Toppers season player rankings after earning American League Player of the Game honors.

Player of the Day—Ryu struck out eight over seven scoreless innings, allowing one hit and no walks, in the 8-0 win over the Mets.

American League Player of the Day—Yankees pitcher Luis Severino struck out nine over 6 2/3 innings, allowing one run, two hits and one walk, in the 8-1 win over the Indians.

Severino earns 1.7 Box-Toppers points for being AL Player of the Day, giving him 12.4 for the season, rising into the top 10 players list to ninth place. He ranks fourth among American League pitchers.

American League Batter of the Day—Manny Machado of the Orioles homered, doubled and went 4-for-5, scoring twice and driving in five runs, in the 12-3 win over the Tigers.

National League Batter of the Day—Jose Martinez of the Cardinals hit a grand slam and doubled, going 2-for-4, scoring twice, in the 13-4 win over the Reds.
