Tim Beckham of the Mariners is Wednesday’s Box-Toppers Player of the Day in baseball’s 2019 opening game in Japan.

Beckham homered and went 3-for-3, scoring three times and driving in two runs, in the 9-7 win over the Athletics.

It was the only game played Wednesday. The series resumes Thursday. All other teams begin the regular season next Thursday, March 28.

Beckham earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, the first and only 2.0 points of the season so far, and so, takes the very early lead among players in Box-Toppers season player rankings.

Beckham had 1.5 Box-Toppers points in 2018 with the Orioles—he earned Player of the Game honors only once, also earning AL Batter of the Day honors, on Sept. 23. His best season was 2017 with the Orioles, when he had 3.0 Box-Toppers points.
