Sam Hilliard of the Rockies is Tuesday’s Box-Toppers Player of the Day.

Hilliard hit a three-run homer and went 3-for-3, scoring twice and driving in three runs, in the 12-3 win over the Angels.

Hilliard earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, giving him 3.0 for the season, 216th among all players and 35th among National League batters.

Hilliard had a Box-Toppers game score Tuesday of +5.0, the same as three other pitchers who also earned Player of the Game honors Tuesday. But in cases of game score ties, batters hold the tiebreaker and rank ahead of pitchers.

American League Player of the Day—Tigers pitcher Erasmo Ramirez struck out three over three scoreless middle relief innings, allowing one hit and one walk, in the 6-5, 11-inning win over the Twins. Ramirez did not earn the win, picking up a no-decision, because the Tigers did not lead when he exited.

Yordan Alvarez of the Astros is Tuesday’s Box-Toppers AL Batter of the Day.

American League Batter of the Day—Yordan Alvarez of the Astros hit a three-run home run and went 3-for-5, scoring twice and driving in three runs, in the 8-6 win over the Mariners.

Alvarez earns 1.5 Box-Toppers points for being AL Batter of the Day, giving him 6.0 for the season, seventh among AL batters.

National League Batter of the Day—There is no separate NL Batter of the Day for Tuesday because the overall Player of the Day is NL batter Sam Hilliard.

Cardinals pitcher Adam Wainwright is Box-Toppers Player of the Game in Tuesday’s win over the Indians.

Notable—Cardinals pitcher Adam Wainwright has the most 2021 Box-Toppers points among the 14 who earned Player of the Game honors Tuesday.

Wainwright (7IP 4H 2R 2BB 8K W in the 4-2 win over the Indians) earns 1.0 Box-Toppers point, giving him 8.0 for the season, 32nd among all players and 23rd among NL pitchers.

Wainwright also now has 138.3 career Box-Toppers points, 32nd among all players since Box-Toppers tracking began in 1995. He trails 31st-ranked player Andy Pettitte (138.5). Wainwright ranks ninth among active players in career points, fifth among active NL pitchers.
