Reds pitcher Wade Miley is Tuesday’s Box-Toppers Player of the Day.
Miley struck out eight over seven innings, allowing one run, five hits and no walks, in the 4-3 win over the Cubs.
Miley earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, giving him 10.7 for the season, 26th among all players and 19th among National League pitchers.
Miley becomes the 37th player to reach 10 Box-Toppers points in 2021. It is his second season with 10 or more points. In 2012, he had 12.7 Box-Toppers points with the Diamondbacks, 17th among NL pitchers.
American League Player of the Day—Nelson Cruz of the Rays hit two home runs and doubled, going 4-for-5, scoring three times and driving in four runs, in the 12-7 win over the Red Sox.
This was the second straight day Cruz earned Player of the Game after earning the honor Monday (HR 3-6 3R 3BI in the 11-10, 10-inning win over the Red Sox).
Cruz has 5.7 Box-Toppers points for the season, 2.7 earned in the past two days (1.7 for being AL Player of the Day Tuesday and 1.0 for being Player of the Game Monday). He ranks 15th among AL batters in 2021 Box-Toppers points.
National League Batter of the Day—Ozzie Albies of the Braves homered and went 2-for-3, scoring twice and driving in four runs, in the 8-5 win over the Nationals.
Albies earns 1.5 Box-Toppers points for being NL Batter of the Day, giving him 7.0 for the season, 79th among all players and 10th among NL batters.
American League Batter of the Day—There is no separate AL Batter of the Day for Tuesday because the overall AL Player of the Day is batter Nelson Cruz.
Debut—Two players made their Box-Toppers debut Tuesday, each with their first career Player of the Game honor:
Angels pitcher Packy Naughton (5IP 2H 0R 2BB 5K ND in the 4-0 win over the Padres) made his Major League debut Aug. 8 and was playing in his fourth career game.
Austin Hays of the Orioles (HR 1-3 R 3BI in the 7-3 win over the Royals) made his Major League debut Sept. 7, 2017, and was playing in his 181st career game.

In regular season games, players earn 1.0 Box-Toppers point for being named Player of the Game and can earn bonus points for being Player of the Day or top player or batter in their league for the day.
