Blue Jays pitcher Alek Manoah is Thursday’s Box-Toppers Player of the Day.
Also Thursday, Braves pitcher Kyle Wright rises to second place in season player rankings after earning Player of the Game honors.
Player of the Day—Manoah struck out seven over seven scoreless innings, allowing three hits and one walk, in the 1-0 win over the Red Sox.
Manoah earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, giving him 3.0 for the season, 15th among all players and fourth among American League pitchers.
National League Player of the Day—Brewers pitcher Freddy Peralta struck out seven over six scoreless innings, allowing three hits and no walks, in the 3-2 win over the Pirates. Peralta did not earn the win, picking up a no-decision, because the Pirates took the lead after he exited.
Peralta earns 1.7 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, his first points of the season, and ranks 66th among all players and 30th among NL pitchers.
American League Batter of the Day—Aaron Judge of the Yankees hit a three-run homer and went 2-for-5, scoring twice and driving in four runs, in the 10-5 win over the Orioles.
National League Batter of the Day—Ha-Seong Kim of the Padres hit two doubles and went 3-for-4, scoring once and driving in three runs, in the 7-5 win over the Reds.
Rankings—Braves pitcher Kyle Wright rises from eighth to second place in Box-Toppers season player rankings after earning Player of the Game honors Thursday.
Wright (7IP 3H R 4BB 8K W in the 5-1 win over the Cubs) earns 1.0 Box-Toppers point, giving him 5.0 for the season. Though he has the same Box-Toppers point total as overall leader Shohei Ohtani of the Angels (5.0), he ranks second because he has fewer 2021 Box-Toppers points (16.1 vs. 0.0).
