Angels pitcher Jose Suarez is Monday’s Box-Toppers Player of the Day.
Suarez struck out eight over seven scoreless innings, allowing two hits and two walks, in the 1-0 win over the Athletics.
Suarez earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, giving him 6.0 for the season, 71st among all players and 30th among American League pitchers.
National League Player of the Day—Diamondbacks pitcher Zac Gallen struck out eight over seven scoreless innings, allowing three hits and two walks, in the 3-0 win over the Pirates.
Gallen earns 1.7 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, giving him 9.7 for the season, 25th among all players and 13th among NL pitchers.
American League Batter of the Day—Josh Donaldson of the Yankees homered, doubled and went 4-for-5, scoring three times and driving in three runs, in the 9-4 win over the Mariners.
National League Batter of the Day—Christopher Morel of the Cubs homered and went 2-for-4, scoring twice and driving in two runs, in the 8-3 win over the Nationals.
This was Morel’s Box-Toppers debut, the first time in his career he earned Player of the Game honors. Morel made his Major League debut May 17 and was playing in his 68th career game.
