Tigers pitcher Tarik Skubal is Tuesday’s Box-Toppers Player of the Day, rising to second place in season player rankings.
Skubal struck out seven over seven scoreless innings, allowing three hits and one walk, in the 4-1 win over the Phillies.
Skubal earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, giving him 11.4 for the season, second place overall and second place among American League pitchers, behind Luis Gil of the Yankees (13.4 points).
Skubal becomes the eighth player this season to reach 10 Box-Toppers points. It is his third season and third straight season with 10 or more points. He earned 10.7 points in each of the past two seasons with the Tigers. In 2022, he ranked 22nd among AL pitchers and in 2023, he ranked 19th among AL pitchers.
National League Player of the Day
Brewers pitcher Bryse Wilson struck out four over six scoreless middle relief innings, allowing three hits and no walks, in the 3-1 win over the Rangers.
Wilson earns 1.7 Box-Toppers points for being NL Player of the Day, giving him 3.7 for the season, 46th among NL pitchers and second among NL middle relievers, behind Jeff Hoffman of the Phillies (4.0 points).
American League Batter of the Day
Mickey Moniak of the Angels hit a grand slam and went 1-for-2, scoring twice and driving in four runs, in the 7-5 win over the Athletics.
National League Batter of the Day
Jurickson Profar of the Padres hit a grand slam and went 1-for-3, scoring twice and driving in four runs, in the 9-7 win over the Nationals.
