Mariners pitcher Bryce Miller is Monday’s Box-Toppers Player of the Day, rising to eighth place in Box-Toppers season player rankings.

Miller struck out 10 over seven innings, allowing one run, two hits and no walks, in the 5-1 win over the Rays.

Miller earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, giving him 12.7 for the season, rising to eighth place overall and fourth place among American League pitchers.

With Miller’s rise, Aaron Judge of the Yankees (12.0 Box-Toppers points) falls out of Box-Toppers’ season player rankings top 10 list, falling from 10th to 11th place.

Judge spent 13 days in the top 10 after rising to ninth place on Aug. 14. Judge was the only batter in the top 10. No player serving solely as a batter has finished the season in the overall top 10 since 2013, when Miguel Cabrera of the Tigers finished eighth with 16.9 points. (Shohei Ohtani of the Angels ranked third overall in 2023 with 19.4 points earning 9.7 points as a pitcher and 9.7 as a batter.) Between 1995 and 2009, batters routinely finished in the top 10 each season except 2005.

National League Player of the Day

Miguel Amaya of the Cubs hit two doubles and went 4-for-5, scoring twice and driving in four runs, in the 18-8 win over the Pirates.

Amaya earns 1.7 Box-Toppers points for being NL Player of the Day, giving him 2.7 for the season, 68th among NL batters.
