Pivetta earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, giving him 4.0 for the season, rising to second place overall and first among NL pitchers, passing previous leader Zack Wheeler of the Phillies (2.7 points), who falls to third place.
This is Pivetta’s second Player of the Day honor this season. He also did it March 30. Pivetta earned 9.7 points in 2024 with the Red Sox, 30th among AL pitchers.
American League Player of the Day
Yainer Diaz of the Astros hit a grand slam, doubled and went 3-for-5, scoring twice and driving in five runs, in the 14-3 win over the Angels.
Diaz earns 1.7 Box-Toppers points for being AL Player of the Day, his first points of the season and is eighth among AL batters. He earned 2.0 Box-Toppers points in 2024 with the Astros.

Alonso has already nearly equaled his 2024 Box-Toppers point total of 5.0 with the Mets, when he finished the season 25th among NL batters. Alonso led NL batters in Box-Toppers points in 2022 (14.9 points) and 2023 (12.0 points).
American League Batter of the Day
There is no separate AL Batter of the Day for Friday because the overall AL Player of the Day is batter Yainer Diaz.

About Box-Toppers
Box-Toppers tracks who most helps their team win the most games. Using standard box score statistics, Box-Toppers uses a simple formula to determine a Player of the Game for each Major League Baseball game played. That player is the person who contributed most to his team’s win. In regular season games, players earn 1.0 Box-Toppers point for being named Player of the Game and can earn bonus points for being Player of the Day or top player or batter in their league for the day.
