Guardians pitcher Luis Ortiz is Saturday’s Box-Toppers Player of the Day.

Also Saturday, Carson Kelly of the Cubs rises to eighth place in Box-Toppers season player rankings after earning National League Batter of the Day.

Player of the Day

Ortiz struck out 10 over 5 2/3 innings, allowing one run, one hit and two walks, in the 6-3 win over the Royals.

Ortiz earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, his first points of the season and is 28th in season player rankings, eighth among American League pitchers.

Ortiz earned 9.0 Box-Toppers points in 2024 with the Pirates, 33rd among National League pitchers.

National League Player of the Day is Padres pitcher Kyle Hart.

Padres pitcher Kyle Hart struck out four over six scoreless innings, allowing one hit and no walks, in the 2-0 win over the Rockies.

This was Hart’s Box-Toppers debut, his first career Player of the Game honor. Hart made his Major League debut Aug. 13, 2020, and was playing in his seventh career game.

Hart earns 1.7 Box-Toppers points for being NL Player of the Day, 58th among all players and 23rd among NL pitchers.

National League Batter of the Day is Carson Kelly of the Cubs.

National League Batter of the Day

Carson Kelly of the Cubs hit two home runs and went 3-for-3, scoring three times and driving in three runs, in the 16-0 win over the Dodgers.

Kelly earns 1.5 Box-Toppers points for being NL Batter of the Day, giving him 3.0 for the season, rising to eighth among all players, third among NL batters, behind Pete Alonso (4.5 points) and Jackson Chourio (3.0 points). Though Chourio and Kelly both have 3.0 points, Chourio ranks ahead because he has more 2024 points—5.7 vs. 1.5.

Kelly previously earned 1.5 points as NL Batter of the Day on March 31.

American League Batter of the Day
