Also Wednesday, two players in Box-Toppers season player rankings top 10 earned Player of the Game honors—Nationals pitcher Patrick Corbin and Reds pitcher Luis Castillo. It’s the first time in more than a week that any player in the top 10 has earned Box-Toppers points.

Clevinger struck out 12 over seven scoreless innings, allowing one hit and three walks, in the 5-3 win over the White Sox. Clevinger did not earn the win, picking up a no-decision, because the White Sox took the lead after he exited, before the Indians regained the lead.

American League Batter of the Day—Manny Machado of the Orioles hit a two-run homer and went 3-for-5, scoring twice and driving in four runs, in the 9-4 win over the Yankees.
National League Batter of the Day—David Peralta of the Diamondbacks went 2-for-4, scoring once, driving in a run and stealing a base, in the 4-2 win over the Giants.

Notable—Rays pitcher Chris Archer fell from second to third place in Box-Toppers player rankings. Though he pitched in his team’s 5-4 win Saturday over the White Sox, he did not earn Player of the Game honors—that honor went to Kevin Kiermaier (3B 2-3 2R), who had a Box-Toppers game score of 1. Debut—Nationals pitcher Joe Ross made his Box-Toppers debut Saturday, the first time in his career he earned Player of the Game honors. Yankees pitcher Shane Greene is Saturday's Player of the Day. Greene pitched 7 1/3 scoreless innings and struck out nine in the 3-0 win over the Orioles.
This was Greene’s Box-Toppers debut, the first time he has earned Player of the Game honors. He is the 3,381st player to debut in Box-Toppers since record keeping began in 1995. Greene made his Major League debut April 24 and was pitching in his third game, making his second start.
Dodgers pitcher Paul Maholm is National League Player of the Day. Maholm pitched six scoreless innings in the 1-0 win over the Padres. He did not earn the win because when he left the game, the score was tied at 0-0.
