Player of the Day—Miller struck out eight over seven innings and allowed one run in the 2-1 win over the Reds. Miller earned no decision because he left the game with the score tied 1-1—the Braves scored the go-ahead run in the ninth.

American League Player of the Day—Rangers pitcher Colby Lewis allowed one run over seven innings and struck out five in the 8-2 win over the Royals.
American League Batter of the Day—Mark Teixeira of the Yankees hit a two-run homer, doubled and went 4-for-5, scoring three times and driving in two runs, in the 11-5 win over the Rays.
Teixeira has now earned at least 1.0 Box-Toppers point for 13 straight seasons with his first Player of the Game honor of the season. He earned his first Box-Toppers points in 2003 with the Rangers. His best season was 2009 with the Yankees when he had 11.5 Box-Toppers points, sixth among AL batters. In 2014, he had 2.0 Box-Toppers points with the Yankees.
Teixeira has 91.3 career Box-Toppers points and ranks 86th among all players since 1995 when Box-Toppers record keeping began. His career point total ranks 37th among all batters since 1995, seventh among active batters currently in the AL and third among active batters currently on the Yankees—behind Alex Rodriguez (183.8) and Carlos Beltran (95.4).
