Valdez earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, giving him 4.7 for the season, 31st among all players and 13th among American League pitchers.
National League Player of the Day—Nationals pitcher Austin Voth struck out seven over seven innings, allowing one run, three hits and on walk, in the 5-1, seven-inning win over the Phillies.
National League Batter of the Day—Corey Seager of the Dodgers homered and went 3-for-3, scoring twice and driving in two runs, in the 7-2 win over the Athletics.
American League Batter of the Day—Max Kepler of the Twins homered and went 3-for-5, scoring once and driving in two runs, in the 5-4, 10-inning win over the Tigers.
Kepler earns 1.5 Box-Toppers points for being AL Batter of the Day, giving him 5.0 for the season, rising to third place among AL batters, behind Luke Voit of the Yankees (6.0) and Eloy Jimenez of the White Sox (5.5).
Rankings—Yankees pitcher Gerrit Cole rises to 10th place in Box-Toppers season player rankings after earning Player of the Game honors Tuesday.
Cole (7IP 5H R 0BB 7K W in the 12-1 win over the Blue Jays) earns 1.0 Box-Toppers point, giving him 7.4 for the season. He ranks third among AL pitchers behind Shane Bieber of the Indians (9.7) and Lance Lynn of the Rangers (9.1). Cole led all players in Box-Toppers points in 2019 with 32.2.
Cole Tuesday also became the 85th player to reach 100 career Box-Toppers points since 1995 (when player tracking began). With his 1.0 Box-Toppers point earned Tuesday, Cole now has 100.5 career points, rising to 83rd place among all players since 1995, passing three players on the “all-time” list—Jim Edmonds (99.8), Larry Walker (100.1) and Jeff Bagwell (100.4).
