Rockies’ Gomber tops players in Tuesday, March 30’s final spring training games

Rockies pitcher Austin Gomber is Box-Toppers Player of the Day in Tuesday’s final spring training games.

Gomber struck out four over three scoreless innings, allowing two hits and no walks, in the 2-1, seven-inning win over the White Sox. Gomber did not earn the win, picking up a no-decision, because the White Sox tied the game after he exited.

Gomber would have earned 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Box-Toppers Player of the Day if this were a regular season game. Because it’s a preseason exhibition game, no Box-Toppers points are awarded.

National League Batter of the Day—Ozzie Albies of the Braves hit a three-run homer, doubled and went 2-for-3, scoring once and driving in three runs, in the 5-3, seven-inning win over the Red Sox.

Albies would have earned 1.5 Box-Toppers points for being NL Batter of the Day in a regular season day. Albies earned 1.0 Box-Toppers point in 2020. He had 6.5 points in 2019, 18th among NL batters.

American League Batter of the Day—There is no separate AL Batter of the Day for Tuesday because AL Player of the Day was batter Brett Sullivan.
