Brewers pitcher Brandon Woodruff is Wednesday’s Box-Toppers Player of the Day.
Also Wednesday, 2020’s Box-Toppers Player of the Year, Indians pitcher Shane Bieber, earned his first Player of the Game honor of 2021, as American League Player of the Day.
Player of the Day—Woodruff struck out eight over seven scoreless innings, allowing one hit and no walks, in the 4-2, 10-inning win over the Cubs.
Woodruff had a no-hitter into the seventh inning before giving up his only hit. Woodruff did not earn the win, picking up a no-decision, because the game was in a scoreless tie when he exited.
Woodruff earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, his first points of the season and is third in Box-Toppers season player rankings. (While eight players currently have 2.0 Box-Toppers points in 2021, Woodruff ranks third based on his 2020 Box-Toppers point total of 7.0.)
American League Player of the Day—Indians pitcher Shane Bieber struck out 12 over 6 1/3 innings, allowing two runs, three hits and four walks, in the 4-2 win over the Royals. Bieber did not earn the win, picking up a no-decision, because the game was tied after he exited.
Bieber earns 1.7 Box-Toppers points for being AL Player of the Day, his first points of the season, and is ninth in Box-Toppers season player rankings. Bieber led all players in the pandemic-shortened 2020 season with 11.4 Box-Toppers points.

About Box-Toppers—Box-Toppers tracks who most helps their team win the most games. Using standard box score statistics, Box-Toppers uses a simple formula to determine a Player of the Game for each Major League Baseball game played. That player is the person who contributed most to his team’s win. In regular season games, players earn 1.0 Box-Toppers point for being named Player of the Game and can earn bonus points for being Player of the Day or top player or batter in their league for the day.
