Braves pitcher Spencer Strider is Saturday’s Box-Toppers Player of the Day.
Also Saturday, Rays pitcher Shane McClanahan rises to second place in Box-Toppers season player rankings after earning American League Player of the Day honors.
Player of the Day—Strider struck out 11 over six innings, allowing one run, one hit and one walk, in the 4-1 win over the Reds.
Strider earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, giving him 5.7 for the season, 48th among all players and 20th among National League pitchers.
American League Player of the Day—Rays pitcher Shane McClanahan struck out 10 over seven innings, allowing one run, three hits and one walk, in the 6-2 in over the Blue Jays.
McClanahan earns 1.7 Box-Toppers points for being AL Player of the Day, giving him 13.4 for the season, rising from fourth to second place in season player rankings, behind Angels pitcher Shohei Ohtani (14.0). McClanahan also ranks second among AL pitchers behind Ohtani.
American League Batter of the Day—Isaac Paredes of the Rays hit a three-run homer, doubled and went 3-for-5, scoring three times and driving in four runs, in the 11-5 win over the Blue Jays.
National League Batter of the Day—Justin Turner of the Dodgers homered and went 2-for-3, scoring twice and driving in two runs, in the 7-2 win over the Padres.
Turner earns 1.5 Box-Toppers points for being NL Batter of the Day, giving him 5.0 for the season, eighth among NL batters.
Debut—Riley Greene of the Tigers made his Box-Toppers debut Saturday with his first career Player of the Game honor.
Greene (HR 3B 2-4 3R BI in the 4-3 win over the Royals) made his Major League debut June 18 and was playing in his 12th career game.
