Brewers pitcher Brandon Woodruff is Friday’s Box-Toppers Player of the Day, rising to 10th in season player rankings.
Also Friday, Astros pitcher Justin Verlander maintained second place in Box-Toppers season player rankings after earning Player of the Game honors. Plus, Dodgers pitcher Julio Urias rises to eighth in player rankings.
Player of the Day—Woodruff struck out nine over 6 1/3 innings, allowing one run, four hits and two walks, in the 4-1 win over the Red Sox.
Woodruff earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, giving him 11.4 for the season, 10th among all players and fifth among National League pitchers.
Woodruff becomes the 17th player this season to reach 10.0 Box-Toppers points. It is his second season with 10.0 or more points. In 2021, he earned 17.1 points with the Brewers, eighth overall and sixth among NL pitchers.
American League Player of the Day—Aaron Judge of the Yankees hit two home runs, including a grand slam, in the 11-5 win over the Royals. Judge went 3-for-5, scoring twice and driving in six runs.
Judge earns 1.7 Box-Toppers points for being AL Player of the Day, giving him 8.2 for the season, fourth among AL batters.
National League Batter of the Day—Rhys Hoskins of the Phillies homered and went 4-for-4, scoring once and driving in three runs, in the 4-2, 10-inning win over the Pirates.
Hoskins earns 1.5 Box-Toppers points for being NL Batter of the Day, giving him 4.5 for the season, 17th among NL batters.
American League Batter of the Day—There is no separate AL Batter of the Day for Friday because the overall AL Player of the Day is batter Aaron Judge.

Verlander—Astros pitcher Justin Verlander maintains his second place spot in Box-Toppers season player rankings after earning Player of the Game honors Friday.
Verlander (7.2IP 5H R BB 5K W in the 11-1 win over the Mariners) earns 1.0 Box-Toppers point, giving him 17.0 for the season. While he now has the same Box-Toppers point total as Angels pitcher Shohei Ohtani, he still ranks second because Ohtani has more 2021 Box-Toppers points—16.1 vs. 0.0. Verlander also still ranks second to Ohtani among AL pitchers.
It should be noted that Ohtani has earned 4.0 of his 17.0 points as a designated hitter, the other 13.0 coming as a starting pitcher.
