Rangers pitcher Nathan Eovaldi is Thursday’s Box-Toppers Player of the Day.
Also Thursday, Rays pitcher Drew Rasmussen rises to fifth place in Box-Toppers season player rankings after earning American League Player of the Day honors.
Player of the Day—Eovaldi struck out 12 over 8 2/3 scoreless innings, allowing three hits and one walk, in the 6-2 win over the Diamondbacks.
Eovaldi earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, giving him 5.7 for the season, 11th among all players and ninth among AL pitchers.
American League Player of the Day—Rays pitcher Drew Rasmussen struck out seven over seven scoreless innings, allowing two hits and no walks, in the 8-2 win over the Yankees.
Rasmussen earns 1.7 Box-Toppers points for being AL Player of the Day, giving him 6.7 for the season, fifth among all players and fourth among AL pitchers.
National League Batter of the Day—Casey Schmitt of the Giants homered, doubled and went 4-for-4, scoring twice and driving in three runs, in the 4-0 win over the Athletics.
This was Schmitt’s Box-Toppers debut, his first career Player of the Game honor. Schmitt made his Major League debut May 9 and was playing in his third career game.
American League Batter of the Day—There is no separate AL Batter of the Day for Thursday because no AL batter won Player of the Game honors.
