Dodgers pitcher Ryan Pepiot is Thursday’s Box-Toppers Player of the Day.

Also Thursday, Mariners pitcher Luis Castillo rises to eighth place in Box-Toppers season player rankings after earning American League Player of the Day honors.

Player of the Day

Pepiot struck out three over seven scoreless innings, allowing one hit and no walks, in the 10-0 win over the Marlins.

Pepiot took a perfect game into the seventh inning, retiring the first 20 Marlins batters before giving up his only hit to Josh Bell. He threw 84 pitches.

Pepiot earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, giving him 5.0 for the season, 150th among all players and 49th among National League pitchers.

American League Player of the Day is Mariners pitcher Luis Castillo.

Mariners pitcher Luis Castillo struck out eight over six scoreless innings, allowing four hits and four walks, in the 1-0 win over the Rays.

Castillo earns 1.7 Box-Toppers points for being AL Player of the Day, giving him 14.1 for the season, eighth among all players and fifth among AL pitchers.

American League Batter of the Day is Matt Vierling of the Tigers.

Matt Vierling of the Tigers hit two doubles and went 4-for-5, scoring four times and driving in two runs, in the 10-3 win over the Yankees.

Vierling earns 1.5 Box-Toppers points for being AL Batter of the Day, giving him 6.5 for the season, 12th among AL batters.

National League Batter of the Day is Ketel Marte of the Diamondbacks.

Ketel Marte of the Diamondbacks homered and went 2-for-4, scoring twice and driving in three runs, in the 6-2 win over the Cubs.

Debut

Logan O'Hoppe of the Angels made his Box-Toppers debut Thursday with his first career Player of the Game honor.
