Twins pitcher Joe Ryan is Monday’s Box-Toppers Player of the Day, rising to seventh place in season player rankings.

Also Monday, Charlie Blackmon of the Rockies has now earned Box-Toppers points in 12 straight seasons after earning National League Batter of the Day honors.

Player of the Day

Ryan struck out nine over seven innings, allowing one run, four hits and no walks, in the 6-5 win over the Royals.

Ryan earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, giving him 7.7 for the season, rising to seventh place overall and second among American League pitchers, behind Luis Gil of the Yankees (9.7).

National League Player of the Day is Brewers pitcher Robert Gasser.

Brewers pitcher Robert Gasser struck out seven over six scoreless innings, allowing three hits and no walks, in the 5-1 win over the Cubs. Gasser did not earn the win, picking up a no-decision, because he exited when the game was in a scoreless tie.

Gasser earns 1.7 Box-Toppers points for being NL Player of the Day, giving him 2.7 for the season, 46th among NL pitchers.

Gasser had a +10.0 Box-Toppers game score Monday, same as Ryan, but Ryan won overall Player of the Day honors over Gasser because he earned the win in his game, while Gasser picked up a no-decision.

National League Batter of the Day is Charlie Blackmon of the Rockies.

American League Batter of the Day

Kyle Stowers of the Orioles hit two doubles and went 3-for-4, scoring once and driving in four runs, in the 11-3 win over the Red Sox.

This was Stowers’ Box-Toppers debut, his first career Player of the Game honor. Stowers made his Major League debut June 13, 2022, and was playing in his 57th career game.
