Yankees pitcher Carlos Rodon is Monday’s Box-Toppers Player of the Day.

Also Monday, Pirates relief pitcher Aroldis Chapman earned Box-Toppers points in his 15th consecutive season after earning Player of the Game honors.

Player of the Day

Rodon struck out 10 over seven innings, allowing one run, two hits and two walks, in the 9-1 win over the Rays.

Rodon earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, giving him 8.0 for the season, 37th among all players and 20th among American League pitchers.

National League Player of the Day

Reds pitcher Hunter Greene struck out seven over seven scoreless innings, allowing two hits and three walks, in the 4-1 win over the Braves.

Greene earns 1.7 Box-Toppers points for being NL Player of the Day, giving him 5.7 for the season, 29th among NL pitchers.

American League Batter of the Day

Bobby Witt Jr. of the Royals hit a three-run homer, tripled, doubled and went 3-for-4, scoring three times and driving in three runs, in the 10-4 win over the Diamondbacks.

Pirates relief pitcher Aroldis Chapman has now earned Box-Toppers points in 15 straight seasons after earning his first Player of the Game honor of 2024 Monday.

Chapman (1IP 0H 0R 0BB K W in the 2-1 win over the Cardinals) earned his first Box-Toppers point in 2010 with the Reds and has 67.1 career points, most among active NL closing pitchers, ahead of Edwin Diaz of the Mets (43.7). Chapman ranks third among all active closers behind Craig Kimbrel of the Orioles (94.1) and Kenley Jansen of the Red Sox (68.4). Chapman ranks eighth among all closers since Box-Toppers tracking began in 1995.

Chapman’s best season was 2012 with the Reds when he had 14.0 Box-Toppers points, second among NL closers, behind Craig Kimbrel of the Braves (15.0). Chapman led NL closers with the Reds in 2015 with 8.0 points. He ranked among the top five NL closers in points for five straight seasons from 2012 to 2016 (he was with the Reds from 2012 to 2015 and finished the 2016 season with the Cubs). In 2023, he had 4.0 points with the Royals and Rangers, seventh among AL closers.

Chapman’s 15 season streak earning Box-Toppers points is tied for the fifth-longest currently active streak.
