Red Sox pitcher Garrett Crochet struck out eight over eight scoreless innings, allowing four hits and one walk, in the 3-0 win over the Orioles.
Crochet earns 1.7 Box-Toppers points for being AL Player of the Day, his first points of the season and is 17th in season player rankings.

New leader
Phillies pitcher Zack Wheeler rises to first place in Box-Toppers season player rankings after earning Player of the Game honors Wednesday.
Wheeler (7IP 3H R 0BB 10K W in the 5-1 win over the Rockies) earns 1.0 Box-Toppers point, giving him 2.7 for the season, passing previous leader, Mariners pitcher Logan Gilbert (2.0 points), who falls to second place.
Wheeler earned 1.7 points as NL Player of the Day on March 27. He led all players in 2024 with 21.4 Box-Toppers points.
Wheeler now has 107.7 career Box-Toppers points, 76th among all players since Box-Toppers tracking began in 1995. He trails 75th-ranked player, Lance Berkman (108.1). Wheeler ranks 12th among active, signed players in career points, seventh among active NL pitchers.
Wheeler recorded a +12.0 Box-Toppers game score Wednesday, which would have been high enough to win overall Player of the Day honors on all but one previous day of the season so far. But because his score was less than the +16.2 by NL pitcher Zac Gallen, Wheeler only earned 1.0 Box-Toppers point as Player of the Game.
Notable
Pete Alonso of the Mets Wednesday earns Box-Toppers Player of the Game honors for a second time this season.
Alonso (HR 2-2B 3-4 2R 4BI in the 6-5, 11-inning win over the Marlins) was also Player of the Game March 31 in the 10-4 win over the Marlins (GS 2-4 2R 4BI). Alonso earns 1.0 Box-Toppers point for each Player of the Game honor and now has 2.0 points in 2025, 10th among all players.

About Box-Toppers
Box-Toppers tracks who most helps their team win the most games. Using standard box score statistics, Box-Toppers uses a simple formula to determine a Player of the Game for each Major League Baseball game played. That player is the person who contributed most to his team’s win. In regular season games, players earn 1.0 Box-Toppers point for being named Player of the Game and can earn bonus points for being Player of the Day or top player or batter in their league for the day.
Box-Toppers strives for accuracy. See a mistake in a post? A wrong name, wrong team, grammar error, spelling goof, etc.? Thanks for pointing it out! Contact Box-Toppers here. Let's fix it and make it right.
