Rangers pitcher Nathan Eovaldi is Tuesday’s Box-Toppers Player of the Day, pitching the season’s first complete game.
Also Tuesday, three players earned Box-Toppers Player of the Game honors for a second time this season—Eugenio Suárez of the Diamondbacks, Marlins pitcher Sandy Alcantara and Kyren Paris of the Angels. Other Player of the Game winners Tuesday include Padres pitcher Michael King, Harrison Bader of the Twins and Kyle Tucker of the Cubs.
Player of the Day
Eovaldi pitched a complete-game, four-hit shutout, striking out eight and allowing no walks, in the 1-0 win over the Reds.
Eovaldi earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, his first points of the season and now ranks third among all players.
Eovaldi is one of 12 players with 2.0 Box-Toppers points in 2025. Usually, ties are broken based on players’ 2024 point totals. But the top three players with 2.0 points each earned 13.0 points in 2024, so that tie is broken based on 2023 points. Among the three, Mariners pitcher Logan Gilbert ranks first (with 13.4 points in 2023), Aaron Judge of the Yankees ranks second (with 12.0 in 2023) and Eovaldi ranks third (with 9.7 points in 2023).
Gilbert was overall Player of the Day March 27 and Judge did it March 29.
Eovaldi’s 13.0 Box-Toppers points in 2024 ranked 12th among AL pitchers.
National League Player of the Day
Padres pitcher Michael King struck out 11 over five scoreless innings, allowing two hits and one walk, in the 7-0 win over the Guardians.
King earns 1.7 Box-Toppers points for being NL Player of the Day, his first points of the season and ranks 14th among all players. King earned 12.7 Box-Toppers points in 2024, 12th among NL pitchers.
King had a +13.0 Box-Toppers game score Tuesday, the same as Eovaldi. But Eovaldi beat King for overall Player of the Day honors on a tiebreaker with more innings pitched—nine vs. five.
American League Batter of the Day
Harrison Bader of the Twins hit a three-run homer and went 1-for-1, scoring once and driving in three runs, in the 8-3 win over the White Sox.
National League Batter of the Day
Kyle Tucker of the Cubs homered, doubled and went 2-for-3, scoring three times and driving in one run, in the 7-4 win over the Athletics.
Tucker earned 6.0 Box-Toppers points in 2024 with the Astros, 15th among AL batters.

About Box-Toppers
Box-Toppers tracks who most helps their team win the most games. Using standard box score statistics, Box-Toppers uses a simple formula to determine a Player of the Game for each Major League Baseball game played. That player is the person who contributed most to his team’s win. In regular season games, players earn 1.0 Box-Toppers point for being named Player of the Game and can earn bonus points for being Player of the Day or top player or batter in their league for the day.
Box-Toppers strives for accuracy. See a mistake in a post? A wrong name, wrong team, grammar error, spelling goof, etc.? Thanks for pointing it out! Contact Box-Toppers here. Let's fix it and make it right.
