Rangers pitcher Yu Darvish is Wednesday's Player of the Day and takes over the season lead among players in Box-Toppers points.
Darvish struck out 11 over six innings in the 11-3 win over the Angels. He earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day and now has 6.0 points for the season, passing previous leader Matt Harvey of the Mets with 5.0 points. This is the third time Darvish has been named Player of the Day this season.
Mat Latos of the Reds is National League Player of the Day. Latos pitched seven shutout innings in the 1-0 win over the Cubs.
Brandon Laird of the Astros is American League Batter of the Day. Laird homered and doubled twice and went 3-for-4 in the 10-3 win over the Mariners.
Jordany Valdespin of the Mets is National League Batter of the Day. Valdespin hit a walk-off grand slam in the bottom of the 10th to beat the Dodgers 7-3. Harvey, who had been leading in Box-Toppers points until Wednesday, started the game for the Mets and struck out seven over six innings.
Latos receives 1.7 Box-Toppers points for being named NL Player of the Day. Laird receives 1.5 points for AL Batter of the Day. Valdepsin receives 1.5 points for NL Batter of the Day.
