Mariners' Nuno tops players for Wednesday, Sept. 9; Mets' deGrom is 3rd player with 20 Box-Toppers points in '15

Mariners pitcher Vidal Nuno is Wednesday’s Box-Toppers Player of the Day.

Also Wednesday, Mets pitcher Jacob deGrom became the third player this season with 20.0 or more Box-Toppers points and maintains his rank of third place in player rankings.

Player of the Day—Nuno pitched seven scoreless innings, allowing one hit and striking out 10, in the 6-0 win over the Rangers.

National League Player of the Day—Pirates pitcher J.A. Happ struck out 10 over six innings, allowing two runs and three hits, in the 5-4 win over the Reds.

Notable—Angels pitcher Garrett Richards became the 34th player with 10.0 or more Box-Toppers poitns this season after earning Player of the Game honors Wednesday. Richards (7.2IP 4H 2R 11K ND in the 3-2 win over the Dodgers) earns 1.0 Box-Toppers point, giving him 10.0 for the season. He ranks 31st among all players and 16th among AL pitchers.

Debut—Francisco Lindor of the Indians made his Box-Toppers debut Wednesday, the first time in his career he earned Player of the Game honors.
