Shoemaker pitched eight scoreless innings, striking out 11 and allowing three hits and one walk, in the 4-3 win over the Indians. Shoemaker did not earn the win, picking up a no-decision, because the Angels lost the lead after he exited when the Indians tied the game 3-3 in the ninth inning.

National League Player of the Day—Nationals pitcher Tanner Roark pitched seven scoreless innings, striking out seven, in the 8-0 win over the Phillies.

American League Batter of the Day—Edwin Encarnacion of the Blue Jays hit two homers, a double and went 3-for-3, driving in five runs, in the 11-6 win over the Orioles.
