However, Scherzer could regain the lead as soon as Friday when he starts against the Phillies. If he earns at least Player of the Game honors (worth 1.0 Box-Toppers point), he would pass Kershaw.
Kershaw also leads Scherzer among all National League pitchers.
Only 0.1 Box-Toppers point separates Kershaw and Scherzer. Scherzer has been Player of the Game more often this season (16 times compared to Kershaw’s 15 times). He has also earned overall Player of the Day honors more often this season (seven times vs. Kershaw’s six). However, Kershaw has earned NL Player of the Day honors three times while Scherzer has none. With Player of the Day being worth 2.0 points, NL Player of the Day being worth 1.7 and Player of the Game worth 1.0, that gives Kershaw 23.1 and Scherzer 23.0.
The leaders in other key categories maintain their season Box-Toppers points leads:

So far this season, 719 different players have earned Box-Toppers Player of the Game honors. There are 371 players who have more than 2.0 Box-Toppers points. There are 150 players who have made their Box-Toppers debut so far this season, the first time in their career they earned Player of the Game honors. Eleven players debuted in the past week.
About Box-Toppers—Box-Toppers tracks who most helps their team win the most games. Using standard box score statistics, Box-Toppers uses a simple formula to determine a Player of the Game for each Major League Baseball game played. That player is the person who contributed most to his team’s win. In regular season games, players earn 1.0 Box-Toppers point for being named Player of the Game and can earn bonus points for being Player of the Day or top player or batter in their league for the day.
