Also Wednesday, Yankees pitcher Gerrit Cole earned American League Player of the Day honors, maintaining his second-place spot in Box-Toppers season player rankings and Athletics pitcher Sean Manaea rose to fifth place in season player rankings after earning Player of the Game honors.

Player of the Day—Walker struck out nine over seven innings, allowing one run, five hits and one walk, in the 14-1 win over the Orioles.

Walker earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, giving him 6.7 for the season, 16th among all players and 10th among National League pitchers.

American League Player of the Day—Yankees pitcher Gerrit Cole struck out nine over six innings, allowing two runs, five hits and no walks, in the 9-6 win over the Twins.

Cole earns 1.7 Box-Toppers points for being AL Player of the Day, giving him 12.4 for the season, maintaining his second-place spot in Box-Toppers season player rankings, behind overall leader Rays pitcher Tyler Glasnow (12.7). Cole also ranks second among AL pitchers behind Glasnow.
