Gordon hit a three-run homer and tripled in the 8-2 win over the Rays. Gordon went 3-for-3, scoring twice and driving in five runs.

Gordon would have earned 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day if this were a regular season game. Because it’s a preseason exhibition game, no Box-Toppers points are awarded.

Gordon earned 1.0 Box-Toppers points in 2021, his only career Box-Toppers point. But he has earned Player of the Game honors twice during the 2022 spring training season. He was also a Player of the Game winner March 23.

Diamondbacks pitcher Merrill Kelly is Saturday’s Box-Toppers spring training NL Player of the Day.

National League Player of the Day-Diamondbacks pitcher Merrill Kelly struck out five over four innings, allowing one run, one hit and no walks, in the 8-4 win over the White Sox.

Kelly would have earned 1.7 Box-Toppers points for being NL Player of the Day if this were a regular season game. Because it’s a preseason exhibition game, no Box-Toppers points are awarded.

Kelly earned 3.0 Box-Toppers points in 2021. It is the second time Kelly has earned Player of the Game honors in the 2022 spring training season. He was Player of the Day March 23.

Joey Bart of the Giants is Saturday’s Box-Toppers spring training NL Batter of the Day.

National League Batter of the Day—Joey Bart of the Giants hit a three-run homer and went 3-for-3, scoring once and driving in three runs, in the 10-2 win over the Dodgers.

Bart would have earned 1.5 Box-Toppers points for being NL Batter of the Day in a regular season day. Bart has yet to earn Box-Toppers Player of the Game honors in a regular season game and so has 0.0 career Box-Toppers points.

American League Batter of the Day—There is no separate AL Batter of the Day for Saturday because the overall Player of the Day is AL batter Nick Gordon.

Notable—Joey Votto of the Reds has the most 2021 Box-Toppers points among Saturday’s Player of the Game winners.

Votto (2B 2-2 R 2BI in the 6-3 win over the Padres) earned 9.7 Box-Toppers points in 2021, third among NL batters.
