Astros pitcher Framber Valdez is Monday’s Box-Toppers Player of the Day.
Valdez pitched a complete-game two-hitter, striking out seven and allowing one run and three walks, in the 5-1 win over the Athletics.
Valdez earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, giving him 6.0 for the season, 13th among all players and sixth among American League pitchers.
National League Player of the Day—Brewers pitcher Aaron Ashby struck out 12 over six innings, allowing one run, five hits and two walks, in the 3-1 win over the Cubs.
Ashby earns 1.7 Box-Toppers points for being NL Player of the Day, giving him 5.4 for the season, 25th among all players and 10th among NL pitchers.
National League Batter of the Day—Nick Plummer of the Mets hit a three-run homer and doubled in the 13-5 win over the Nationals. Plummer went 3-for-4, scoring twice and driving in four runs.
This was Plummer’s Box-Toppers debut, his first career Player of the Game honor. Plummer made his Major League debut April 15 and was playing in his fifth career game.
American League Batter of the Day—Eli White of the Rangers homered and went 3-for-4, scoring twice and driving in two runs in the 9-5 win over the Rays.

Debut—In addition to Plummer, three other players also made their Box-Toppers debut Monday, each with their first career Player of the Game honor:
Rockies pitcher Ryan Feltner (7IP 4H R BB 6K W in the 7-1 win over the Marlins) made his Major League debut Sept. 5, 2021, and was playing in his fifth career game.
Spencer Torkelson of the Tigers (2B 3-4 2R BI in the 7-5 win over the Twins) made his Major League debut April 8 and was playing in his 42nd career game. Torkelson was the first player selected in the 2020 Major League draft.
Tucupita Marcano of the Pirates (HR 1-4 R 3BI in the 6-5 win over the Dodgers) made his Major League debut April 1, 2021, and was playing in his fifth career game.
Scoring—Valdez earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day and Ashby earns 1.7 points for being NL Player of the Day.
