Mariners pitcher George Kirby is Sunday’s Box-Toppers Player of the Day, the final day of the regular season.
Kirby struck out seven over six scoreless innings, allowing three hits and no walks, in the 1-0 win over the Rangers.
Kirby earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, giving him 13.7 for the season, 14th among all players and eighth among American League pitchers.
National League Player of the Day
Padres pitcher Pedro Avila struck out seven over five scoreless innings, allowing three hits and no walks, in the 2-1 win over the White Sox. Avila did not earn the win, picking up a no-decision, because the game was in a scoreless tie when he exited.
Avila earns 1.7 Box-Toppers points for being NL Player of the Day, his first points of the season, and is 139th among NL pitchers. Avila earned his only other Box-Toppers Player of the Game honor on April 11, 2019.
American League Batter of the Day
Jonathan Aranda of the Rays hit a grand slam, doubled and went 3-for-5, scoring once and driving in six runs, in the 12-8 win over the Blue Jays.
National League Batter of the Day
Keibert Ruiz of the Nationals doubled and went 3-for-5, scoring once and driving in three runs, in the 10-9 win over the Braves.

Tigers pitcher Eduardo Rodriguez now has 13.0 Box-Toppers points in 2023—20th overall and 12th among AL pitchers—after earning 1.0 point as Player of the Game Sunday (7IP 4H 2R ER BB 5K W in the 5-2 win over the Guardians).

Sean Bouchard of the Rockies made his Box-Toppers debut with his first career Player of the Game honor Sunday.
