Red Sox pitcher Nick Pivetta is Monday’s Box-Toppers Player of the Day.
Pivetta struck out 13 over six scoreless and hitless innings, allowing two walks, in the 7-0 win over the Athletics.
Pivetta came on in relief in the third inning, becoming one of six pitchers to strike out 13 in relief in Major League history.
Pivetta earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, giving him 3.0 for the season, 170th among all players and 53rd among American League pitchers.
National League Player of the Day
Keibert Ruiz of the Nationals homered, doubled and went 3-for-3, scoring twice and driving in two runs, in the 7-5 win over the Cubs.
