Cole becomes the 27th player this season to reach 10 Box-Toppers points. It is his sixth season to reach 10 Box-Toppers points and his third straight:
In 2015, he earned 19.0 points with the Pirates, ninth overall and sixth among National League pitchers.
In 2018, he earned 18.0 points with the Astros, eighth overall and sixth among AL pitchers.
In 2019, he earned 32.2 points with the Astros, first overall and the fourth-highest single-season point total by any player since 1995, when Box-Toppers tracking began.
In 2021, he earned 22.4 points with the Yankees, second overall and first among AL pitchers.
In 2022, he earned 15.4 points with the Yankees, eighth among AL pitchers.
Cole has reached 10 points in four of the past five years, missing the pandemic-shortened 2020 season, when he had 7.4 points with the Yankees, fifth among AL pitchers.
Cole also now has 149.3 career Box-Toppers points, rising to 27th among all players in career points since 1995, when Box-Toppers tracking began. With his 2.0 points Friday, he passes two players on the “all-time” career points list—Javier Vazquez (148.3) and Chipper Jones (149.0). Cole now trails 26th-ranked player, Red Sox pitcher Chris Sale (151.3). Cole ranks eighth among active players in career points, fifth among active AL pitchers.
National League Player of the Day
Braves pitcher Spencer Strider struck out nine over seven innings, allowing one run, three hits and one walk, in the 5-1 win over the Giants.

This is the first time Strider has held the Box-Toppers season player rankings lead at any point in the season in his two years in the Majors. He finished 2022 with 13.4 Box-Toppers points with the Braves, 13th among NL pitchers.
Strider also increases his lead among NL pitchers in 2023 Box-Toppers points, ahead of second-place Jesus Luzardo of the Marlins (15.1).
American League Batter of the Day
Nick Allen of the Athletics homered and went 4-for-5, scoring twice and driving in five runs, in the 12-4 win over the White Sox.
National League Batter of the Day
Freddie Freeman of the Dodgers doubled and went 4-for-5, scoring three times and driving in one run, in the 7-4 win over the Red Sox.
Freeman earns 1.5 Box-Toppers points for being NL Batter of the Day, giving him 7.0 for the season, sixth among NL batters.

Keller (8IP 4H 0R BB 6K W in the 2-1 win over the Cubs) earns 1.0 point, giving him 10.0 for the season, 26th among all players and 12th among NL pitchers.
It is his first season with 10 or more points. His previous best was 4.0 in 2021 with the Pirates. He had 2.0 points in 2022 with the Pirates.
Scoring
Cole earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day.

About Box-Toppers
Box-Toppers tracks who most helps their team win the most games. Using standard box score statistics, Box-Toppers uses a simple formula to determine a Player of the Game for each Major League Baseball game played. That player is the person who contributed most to his team’s win. In regular season games, players earn 1.0 Box-Toppers point for being named Player of the Game and can earn bonus points for being Player of the Day or top player or batter in their league for the day.
Box-Toppers strives for accuracy. See a mistake in a post? A wrong name, wrong team, grammar error, spelling goof, etc.? Thanks for pointing it out! Contact Box-Toppers here. Let's fix it and make it right.
